The principal investigator was the lead trainer at a 3-day intensive course on the theory and application of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) organised by the Department of Mental Health, Obafemi Awolowo University, in collaboration with the Foundation for the care and resettlement of the mentally Ill (CAREMI).
The aim of the course was to build the capacity of clinical psychologists, PG students, resident doctors and other Mental health care workers on. This intensive course delved into the Fundamentals in CBT, conceptualisation and session planning, CBT for specific disorders with hands on practical sessions.
The event took place between the 11th and 13th April 2023 between 10.00 am to 3.00 pm daily at the Departmental Seminar room, College of Health Sciences, OAU, Ile Ife, Nigeria.
We had 28 participants who gave glowing recommendations at the end of the program. We hope to continue to roll out practical, skill based trainings to build the capacity of the health workforce in Nigeria.
